I Think I Broke His Hand

Well today was the big day! And I am so glad that it is over!

This morning, bright and early at 5:15, Michael and I were at the hospital for a one day surgery for myself. I have had a lump in my right breast for a few years. I had seen my doctor about it and he assured me it was just a benign lump that is very common in most women. Well in the past few months it has just taken off and grown and grown and has become pretty painful. So my doctor recommended that it be removed. And today was the day. I was scared to death. I have only had surgery one other time and that was cosmetic. Michael was so great. He calmed me down and tried to make me laugh. The worst part about my first surgery and childbirth was the I.V. I dont know if I have expressed to all of you how bad I hate needles. Well, once again, that was the worst part about to day as well. Michael was by my side when she put the I.V. in me and I really thought they were going to have to reserve the room beside me for him with a broken hand. But, he was a trooper. He never winced or complained. I dont think I could have made it through all of it without him by my side.

When I got home my Mom came over and kept me company while Michael went to get my pain med's. She fixed me soup and gave me some med's and we talked for a while and watched some T.V. until I dozed off for a few minutes. My Mom went to pick up Jake from school and he came up the the stairs with a vase of roses he had picked from my Mom's rose bushes. They are so pretty.

So, if I had to have surgery, it couldnt have gone any better. Plus I realized that my husband is amazing and a great home nurse, my Mom is the best and will always be there for me, and Jake is the sweetest, thoughtful, most caring son I could have ever asked for.

I am so glad that this day is over. I am looking forward to the weekend for extra down time. Minus the time we will be at a soccer tournament on Saturday! :)

  4. I'm so glad it went well. I was thinking about you yesterday. I totally agree that the IVs are always the worst part! It really sucks when they have to try more than once. OUCH! Glad you're well.
